YBI: When did you decide to become a Hair Stylist?
MR: I never really knew what being a hairstylist consisted of, or thought of it much about being a career. I was only 14 and didn't want to go my local high school. I felt that there would be trouble for me and I wouldn't amount to much. So I worked really hard to get accepted into the cosmetology program at Skyline High School. Being a silly and immature, I thought," Well at least they'll teach me how to do my own hair, if nothing else." Boy, I was wrong!
YBI: How did you become a Toni&Guy Stylist?
MR: On July 8, 1998, the summer before my senior year in high school I began employment for Toni&Guy! There I got a whole new perspective on what hairdressing can really be.
Still, I wasn't totally convinced so I went to college as a back up. As I learned more about the company and stuck with the education, I gained confidence. As I gained confidence, I started to get more involved. As I got more involved, I gained more responsibility and success! That's when I knew that being a Hairdresser is where I belonged.
YBI: What are the advantages of being a Toni & Guy Stylist?
MR: Being a Toni&Guy hairdresser has lots of advantages! The greatest advantage of all and is world known, is its education! That alone drives ambitious and quality minded people to walk into ours doors. Whether it’s someone looking for a career or just wanted a style change. Thus making it successful business. So the education alone is something that no one can ever take away from me. The education has taught me the technical skills and professional work ethics to be successful. Therefore building confidence and constant artistic creative eye. For that I will always be very appreciative.
YBI: In your opinion, what are the 5 rules to being a successful hairstylist?
MR:
How else do you expect to be a "TOP STYLIST"? That's what makes our industry fun!
