Today I had my hair & makeup agent hat on and was faced with an all too familiar dilemma. A first time client calls to get freelance makeup and hair rates and then a "negotiation" ensues. Another hair and makeup team lowered their rates and now the client wants to know if I will offer a lower rate.
I know what I did in this situation but how do you all deal with this issue?
Do you:
(a)stick to your rates, believing that "you get what you pay for" (in both cases)
(b)lower your rates hoping to win over the client for this and future projects
(c)does it depend on what the project is (is the experience more beneficial than the actual money or vice versa)?
Let me know what you think.
