Misha Presentation-Backstageby Christina Mirabella

By Misha’s Fall presentation during New York Fashion Week was held at the Bernarducci Meisel Gallery. Born and raised in London, Misha’s inspiration for this line was the past Queens and Princesses of her country and their extraordinary gems.  Lead Makeup Artist Nina told me that the look for tonight’s show was a heavy smoky eye with gold glitter on the forehead of the models.

The glitter was glitter gel and gave the smoky eye an extra pop of fabulousness! Lead Hairstylist Erin of Salon Privé in NYC said the hair was all about the height. Equipt with volumizing products from Salon Privé, Erin backcombed the hair to achieve the desired height. Models rocked gold nails with a black French-like type. Lead manicurist Yuki of Spa Martier in NYC told me that the ring finger of each model would be adorned with a Swarovski Crystal matching their outfit! How cool is that?!

Interview with Misha:

What was your inspiration for your new line?
My collection is called “Crown Jewels”. I was inspired by Queens and Princesses from history and characters, primarily Shakespeare.  Each garment has a special Queen or Princess name. The inspiration behind each queen I tried to bring out in the color of the garment.

What is one popular fashion trend right now that you don’t necessarily agree with?
I’m not a huge fan of drainpipes or skinny jeans on men.

Who is one designer you would like to work alongside for the day?
Oh my goodness, there are SO many designers I’d like to work alongside! I would LOVE to just be in the Chanel workspace just to see the way they do things. I also want to see the order they do things, because it seems very original.

Do you have any advice for up and coming designers?
If you love what you’re doing, just do whatever it takes to be exactly where you need to be.
