The International Beauty Show NY
March 7-9, 2010
By Shellee Mendes
This show had everything in the beauty industry from retailing shopping bags & pens to floor mats & furniture! Just name it and it was there!
There were a lot of big names and surprisingly some of the biggest seemed to be missing. I was looking to check out the hair extension booths and I didn’t see Great Lengths. So.Cap was there with not too much of a crowd around their booth. There were quite a few of Brazilian Hair Straightener and Keratin straightener booths. My favorite was Marcia Teixeira's Brazilian Hair Straightener- all their hair looked healthy, thick, long and beautiful and it was definitely theirs.
Moroccan was a big seller and had very good specials going on with them. Argan oil was also at the show- they are more up and coming but very good as well. I also stopped by Wella Color booth (one of my favs) and Vidal Sassoon did some amazing cuts (I must say I miss working for them but nothing like being on my own. :)
I also checked out Balmain Hair, they were there promoting their hair as well. Bronner Brothers had a booth and they were promoting their Atlanta show this August, that’s a huge show!
I personally took a liking to Ashtae Shade of Colors after watching them perform a beautiful color. I purchased their sampler starter kit.
Towards the end I noticed a drop in the booth rentals this year. It just seemed like it wasn't sold out as far as booths.
I was excited to meet Celeb Makeup Artist Scott Barnes. He was awesome! I purchased his new sheer glow which is some amazing stuff!
The best part of my whole weekend was not just getting to stay at The Plaza in NYC but being chauffeured around in a RR which was complimentary with my hotel stay, it was beautiful to be a Queen for the weekend! My 2nd favorite part was going to a hair factory where the hair was made and seeing how it's created step by step. It was so amazing and interesting. We weren't able to take pictures there however I can honestly say I’ll never forget the experience of seeing this creation and I ended up purchasing a large quantity of hair from them. It was the real deal and a beautiful experience!
